Team Source Race Gorrick 3-6-9
Published on:
The Source duo, who both have raced mountain bikes their whole lives, teamed up in the 18-39 category (Ollie is 44 but with Sam being 23, the category is decided by youngest's age) for the Gorrick Torq 3-6-9 event at Minley Manor in Hampshire - the last ever race of it's kind hosted by Gorrick.
Ollie, founder of racing club GS Mossa and Sam, former sponsored rider for Vittoria Sigma Sports, created a hybrid race team under the Source name.
Sam and Ollie entered the pairs 6 hour race which is a race against the clock to complete as many laps as you can within 6 hours.
The 6.4 mile off-road route wound its way through a dry and fast Minley Forest with a combination of technical single track and fire road.
Racing his first event since the last Torq In Your Sleep in 2022, Sam found himself pumped up for the 6 hour smash fest that would see him utilise his unique stamina and technical ability off road.
Sprinting off the line, Sam put 1:30 into his rivals on the first lap which is a huge gap for the chasers to get their heads around.
However, with the No Brakes No Brains team hot on our heels, we had to go full gas on every lap to retain our lead.

What's Next?
With Sam back in the race scene, is this the beginning of a Source pairing that will pop up elsewhere on the racing circuit?
Finally, a big thanks to John and the Gorrick team for hosting this event over the years and keeping the mountain bike scene alive in the local area for many decades.
